Cody Says He Never Should Have Done Cage Moonsault Against Wardlow

There have been many highlights during the first year of AEW Dynamite, but one moment that continues to stick out is Cody's moonsault off the cage.

In the main event of the February 19 episode of AEW Dynamite, Cody battled Wardlow in the first-ever AEW cage match. The match was used to build Cody's feud against MJF and took place at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The finish of the bout saw Cody perform a moonsault off the top of the cage, landing on Wardlow, and getting the pinfall victory.

Speaking to Variety, Cody reflected on the spot.

“I should have never done it,” he said. “Literally I have nightmares about it because the cage was too tall. And I’ve not been the same since I hit the ground. I remember telling Brandi [Rhodes] ‘I think I might have had a mini heart attack.’”

Cody spoke to the crowd after the match once Dynamite went off the air, soaking in the moment in front of his home state. You can view his speech in the video above.

Cody is set to appear on Wednesday's Dynamite, answering Brodie Lee's challenge from last week.
