Darby Allin and Steven Borden discuss the possibility of Steven painting his face while competing in the squared circle in the future.
Allin and Borden have been teaming since Borden broke out onto the scene on the AEW roster, taking over from his father, Sting, who was previously a tag partner of Allin’s before his retirement.
While speaking to 1010XL’s Trent Osborne in a new interview, Steven Borden would be asked about potentially painting his face like his father, with Darby Allin quipping that Steven is sexy enough that he doesn’t need the paint.
“Look how sexy he is. He doesn’t need it.”
Steven would answer the question by noting that he may have been booed out of the building if he showed up in his father’s attire from day one.
“Yeah. The last thing I want to do is be playing the greatest hits. I think you can do callbacks when it makes sense at the right time. But I think if I were to have come out with face paint and a trench coat and a bat, I probably could have been booed out of the building in the beginning, and I’m still in the beginning right now. So kind of taking it week by week.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Darby spoke about wanting to inspire the next generation of pro wrestlers to stay themselves. You can read more about that here.
