David Arquette Wanted To Wrestle Cody Rhodes And On AEW For His Documentary

In 2020, David Arquette released his documentary "You Cannot Kill David Arquette," which focused on Arquette's journey back to the wrestling ring.

Arquette infamously held the WCW World Heavyweight Championship in 2000 and was seen as a joke by many in the wrestling business. He return to the ring in 2018 on a redemption tour as an independent wrestling.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Arquette revealed plans for the documentary that ultimately fell through.

"I was talking to Cody Rhodes about trying to have him in the film, it was right as the AEW stuff was coming together," he said. "Yeah, I did (pitch a match). I thought it would be so funny like, 'You disrespected the belt and my dad had it and I'm going to pay him back.'"

AEW would officially form at the beginning of 2019 and make its way onto TNT with AEW Dynamite beginning in October.

Arquette was hoping to get on AEW for a bout as well.

"That's one thing that was a little upsetting, especially with AEW because they had all the guys in AEW that were in the movie and I wanted to go and do a match or something to promote the movie and they were like [no]. I think it was TNT, they were like trying to charge me to wrestle," he said.

Arquette continued, believing there was confusion as to what he was looking for.

"It went through like the publicity department to TNT or something and they were like, 'Well, it cost this to...' 'Forget it.' We were looking to advertise on the shows, at least some form of advertisement within AEW, but they looked at it like, 'We charge this much for someone to promote in the ring.' That was a little depressing because I knew a bunch of the guys over there," he said.

Arquette has wrestled and trained with the likes of Peter Avalon, Jungle Boy, Colt Cabana, and more in AEW.

Arquette hasn't wrestled since 2019 and is currently filming "The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry."
