Dax Harwood: FTR And CM Punk vs. The Elite; If You Want To Sell 50K Tickets, That's The Dream Match

AEW will head to Wembley Stadium on August 27 for their biggest event ever All In.

Wembley Stadium holds roughly 90,000 fans, and though it is unknown how many seats will be available following event configuration, AEW will be looking to break records with the attendance number. This will mark the first wrestling event at the modern Wembley Stadium. WWE packed an announced 80,355 fans into the old Wembley Stadium for SummerSlam 1992.

Speaking to Raj Prashad of Uproxx, FTR has a dream match in mind to bring the fans in and take AEW to the next level.

“CM Punk and FTR versus the Elite,” Dax Harwood said. “That’s gotta be it, right? If you want to sell 50,000 tickets and take this company to the next level, that’s it, that’s me dreaming. That’s the dream match. That six-man tag in Wembley Stadium could help launch AEW to the next level.”

Punk has not been on AEW television since AEW All Out 2022 when he won the AEW World Title from Jon Moxley, but suffered an injury and then aired his grievances with The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks), Hangman Page, and Colt Cabana at the post-show press conference. Punk's comments led to an altercation between him, Ace Steel, and The Elite that saw the Elite and Punk get suspended while Steel was fired.

Wheeler added, “Wembley Stadium is huge for AEW. AEW has to be ambitious right now. We’ve done so much as a company over the past three years that everybody said we couldn’t do. When Tony said we’re going to sell 20,000 (tickets at Arthur Ashe Stadium), that seemed ridiculous to people at the time. Everybody wants to keep moving the goalposts. Everybody wants to keep saying you can’t do this. I love that we’re going to Wembley because even if it’s not completely to the brim full, 50-, 60-, 70,000, whatever it ends up being, that’s huge for this company. As a company that’s only a couple years into its existence. You can’t play it safe all the time. The roster right now is so deep, why not go for it?”

Punk has been active on social media during his absence and has always spoken highly of FTR.

It is unknown if or when Punk will return to AEW.

FTR are the reigning AEW Tag Team Champions after defeating The Gunns (Austin & Colten Gunn) on AEW Dynamite to save their AEW careers. The Elite are currently in a storyline with Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli, & Wheeler Yuta).
