Deonna Purrazzo: People Need To Be Open To Listening To Veterans, They Have Proven Experience

Deonna Purrazzo discusses the value of learning from veterans.

Purrazzo wrestled for Ring of Honor, TNA and STARDOM, among other promotions and made a few appearances in WWE before she signed with the company in 2018. After an inconsistent run on NXT, she was released in a wave of cuts in 2020, and she went on to sign with IMPACT Wrestling. Since her arrival there, Purrazzo has become one of the top stars in the Knockouts Division; she has won the Knockouts Women's World Championship twice, and she also captured the IMPACT Knockouts World Tag Team Championship with Chelsea Green. Additionally, Purrazzo made history when she and Mickie James became the first women to headline an IMPACT pay-per-view at IMPACT Hard To Kill 2022.

Report: WWE COO Brad Blum Tenders Resignation

Speaking on The Bob Culture Podcast, Purrazzo was asked about working with several renowned veterans on the IMPACT roster. She referenced James, Gail Kim, Frankie Kazarian, and Bully Ray as a few examples as she described how their experience makes them successful. Purrazzo stated that she has always believed that their feedback is beneficial, as she continues to learn.

“I’ve always felt this way. Someone like Frankie, someone like Bully, someone like Mickie, Gail…. whoever it is, they have proven, true experience that has made them successful and made them a lot of friggin money. So how do I not take your advice and at least take it into consideration? It’s worked for you. So it won’t necessarily work in the same ways for me, but it’s worth me trying. So I think people need to be more open. If you don’t necessarily want to ask questions, at least when they give you advice for free, you’re listening. Have your ears open. Because I don’t know everything. I’ve been wrestling for a long time. I’ve done a lot of things, but I don’t know everything. I’m still learning every single time I get in the ring. So having that humbleness and openness that I’m willing to learn is so important to anyone in any stage in their career. In any career, not just wrestling," Purrazzo said.

In the same interview, Purrazzo noted that she wants to be the one who dethrones Mickie James. Click here to see what she had to say.
