Dirty Dango (Fandango) Recalls His Botched Interaction With The Rock At WWE TV

Dirty Dango (formerly Fandango in WWE) recalls his interaction with The Rock while at a WWE TV taping.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Dango discussed Dwayne Johnson putting him over as one of his favorites back in 2013, as well as the attention he gained thanks to his WrestleMania match with Chris Jericho. The former NXT Tag Team Champion shared the details of his talk with The Rock and how he kept telling him the wrong name. Here is what he said:

"He came up to me at TV and goes, 'Hey, what's your name?' 'Curt, sir, how are you doing?' 'No, your name.' 'Curt, how are you doing?' Dumbass, the fucking gimmick. 'Oh, Fandango.' I fucked the whole thing up. It was cool to hear him say that. It's tough because when you're in the land of midcard with all your other buddies and you start to get a little attention, no one really has heat with you, not saying I had heat, but when you're not doing shit on TV, no one ever cares, but when you're getting shoutouts from The Rock and WrestleMania matches, that's when people are starting to whisper and people are getting weird backstage. it was cool to hear him say that and I'm a huge fan of Dwayne."

After over a decade with the company, Dango was released by WWE on June 25. He recently appeared at NWA Hard Times 2, beginning his tenure with the promotion.

Elsewhere in the interview, he revealed how Drew McIntyre helped connect him with the NWA. Click here to learn more.
