Don Callis: I’ve Been Super Impressed With Chris Jericho Since He’s Been Back, He’s In Phenomenal Shape
Don Callis is impressed with Chris Jericho’s current run.
After spending an entire year away from the wrestling business, Jericho made his return to AEW back in April and started a program with Ricochet. Since then, he’s also shared the ring with names like Tommaso Ciampa and JD Drake.
Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp for a new interview, Callis first talked about the importance of Canadian talent in wrestling.
“Look at like the business without Edge, without Christian, without Jericho, without some of those guys. It’s like shocking, right? Even you look the business without me. What if I’d never booked Jericho / Omega for New Japan? What happens? Does Chris Jericho retire? What does he do? So it’s kind of like the what if game. It’s like, ‘Hey, if that Canadian talent in that time capsule never existed, how many memories don’t we have of like Jericho and Edge and Christian, all these guys are now with AEW, that you can still see them performing at a super high level?”
Callis went on to say that he’s been a fan of Jericho’s current run with AEW.
“I’m not a fan of Jericho personally. It’s kind of like we’re really good friends that don’t get along, like step brothers or something, right? But I will say this, I’ve been super impressed with him since he’s been back. Guy’s in phenomenal shape, how he does what he does at any age, but as an older guy like me, is just to me incredible. It’s been very impressive. I thought he looked great on Dynamite this past week at Beach Break.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Callis talked about working with Mauro Ranallo in Maple Leaf Pro. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
