Don Callis: Mauro Ranallo’s Commentary Prep Is So Impressive, He Makes My Job Easy

Don Callis loves working with Mauro Ranallo.

Callis and Ranallo have been on the call for the majority of Maple Leaf Pro events since the promotion returned in 2024. As it turns out, ‘The Invisible Hand’ loves working with Ranallo.

“I love Mauro. He’s a great guy.” Callis told Fightful in a new interview. “Obviously just mind blowingly good in terms of preparation. It’s funny because, I think I talked to you about this, I’ve never really been heavily produced as a color commentator. In New Japan, I’m not clear that they even really would listen to all of what Kevin and I were saying. It was obviously for the rest of the world. But Mauro comes with stacks of notes and it’s so impressive to me and Mauro really makes my job easy because I just have to be a dick—which, you know, isn’t really much of a stretch for me.”

Maple Leaf Pro is the only wrestling promotion that Mauro Ranallo has worked for on a regular basis since leaving WWE in 2020.
