Dragon Lee Signs With WWE

Dragon Lee is headed to WWE.

During AAA Noche De Campeones, Dragon Lee announced he has signed with WWE. Lee had just won the AAA Tag Team Championships alongside Dralistico from FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) when he made the announcement.

According to ESPN, Lee will start with WWE in January.

"I think I can become the new Rey Mysterio in WWE," Lee said. "I just need the opportunity. [Finn Balor] told me, 'Would you like to be in WWE?' [laughs]. I said, 'Yeah, sure. Why not?' ... It was something special for me. It's my challenge to learn more about promos. You will never finish learning in pro wrestling. But every time you wrestle, you learn. But about promos, it's something new for me. I would like to learn something new, how to become not just a wrestler -- an artist."

WWE made the news official, saying Dragon Lee would be headed to NXT. Triple H also commented on the signing.

Luchablog reports Lee and Dralistico were brought in for a WWE tryout after Lee appeared on the August 17 episode of AEW Dynamite. WWE reportedly passed on Dralistico, who recently wrestled at ROH Final Battle and on AEW Rampage, but Lee was brought back for a second tryout and eventually signed with the company.

Lee is a former ROH Television and Tag Team Champion, a former CMLL World Welterweight and Lightweight Champion, and a former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion.

Fightful will provide more details on Lee's signing when they are known.
