10 years ago, Drew McIntyre was pointed out by Vince McMahon as the next breakout star in WWE. Things did not go according to plan in that initial run for Drew, but today, he is the WWE Champion after defeating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36.
Outside of Vince McMahon, one person that believed in Drew McIntyre is Dwayne ?The Rock? Johnson.
While recently speaking to TMZ Sports, Drew took some time to thank The Rock for previously telling TMZ that he felt Drew McIntyre would be the next breakout star in WWE.
?He took a moment, when you said, 'who's gonna be the next breakout star?' He said, 'Drew McIntyre' and if you watch what I was doing at the time, I was doing nothing,? Drew recalled. ?I wasn't showing my personality which I've done over the past few months. I wasn't on a winning streak or anything and he pointed me out. It's interesting the guys that Vince McMahon and The Rock when they see something in somebody that maybe others don't, or maybe you don't see it in yourself. I want to say thank you to him for seeing that in me too. It's pretty cool these people that believed in me. They are, you know, so influential in our entertainment industry and things are coming to be that they saw in me.?
