Drew McIntyre’s Response When Talents Ask Him For Advice: “Maybe Change Your Last Name To Fatu… You Might Get More Opportunities”

McIntyre takes a friendly jab at The Bloodline.

One of the matches on the bill for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12th is a singles bout between Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton.

Ahead of their clash, McIntyre made the media rounds, and one of the outlets he spoke to was Sports Illustrated. McIntyre made a joke about his response when talents backstage ask him for advice. He suggests they should change their last name to ‘Fatu’ to possibly have a chance at getting more opportunities.

His comments came about because he was asked if it fueled him to know that others have a last name with lineage that has been able to open doors for them.

“No, I can really care less what your last name is. My journey is very different from basically anybody’s ever. I came from Scotland, was the first-ever Scottish person ever signed directly from Scotland to WWE, a country of five million people, and I’ve had such a unique journey, a lot of ups and downs on the way. The longtime fans out there will know everything I’ve been through and had to fight for everything I got. Today’s day in age, it’s lucky I’m as good as I am or I might get lost in the shuffle because I suggest to a lot of the talent backstage when they’re asking for advice, maybe change your last name to Fatu or something. You might get more opportunities.”

McIntyre returned to WWE television after being away since May. He spoke about his time off in a separate interview, and to read that, click here.
