EC3 doesn't give a damn about the ECW Arena but he is looking forward to winning the Ring of Honor World Championship inside of it.
EC3 has been a World Champion in IMPACT Wrestling. Following that run, he went to WWE where he captured the WWE 24/7 Championship.
Since the end of his WWE tenure, EC3 has become obsessed with controlling his own narrative and helping others do the same. On Sunday, September 12, he has an opportunity to become Ring of Honor World Champion in a Fatal 4-way Elimination Match against Brody King, Bandido, and Flamita.
The event, Death Before Dishonor, was supposed to originally take place in Lakeland, Florida. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the event was moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the 2300 Arena, formerly known as the ECW Arena.
Speaking on The Straight Shooters podcast, EC3 stated very bluntly that he couldn't give less of a damn about the history that took place in that venue stating that “nostalgia is dead.”
“Oh, like whatever. It is a building. No, I had a shirt made for it. I'm sick of wrestling. We so desperately want something new. I want this new guy to be pushed. I want this new company to succeed, new new new new, but then we only talk about the past. We're obsessed with the past nostalgia, nostalgia is dead. So yeah 2300 Arena, big deal. History took place there. But it doesn't matter because history is written by the winners. So history will take place this Sunday when I'm the victor, the Ring of Honor champion. But also it meant nothing to me. I wore a shirt. I made a shirt. It says ‘Nuke the bingo hall’ on it. Because at this point, who cares? That was 25 years ago. Get over it. Nothing matters but the current and the present. The longer we live in the past, the longer it's going to have control over us. So and no, it wasn't my first time there. I actually showed up at a House of Hardcore event once and got 619’d by Rey Mysterio. Who I still want to take his head for... Or his eye... his other eye.”
