Edge compares Bret Hart to one of the most acclaimed actors in cinema history.
Appearing on the Steve Dangle Podcast, Edge spoke at length about his love for the Toronto Maple Leafs, but also for his love of professional wrestling. Co-host Adam Wylde then asked the Rated-R Superstar if he had any favorite matches that he wasn't involved in. Here is what he said:
"I mean, Undertaker/Shawn Michaels, and I think you gotta go WrestleMania 25. You can't go wrong with 26 as well. God, anything involving Bret Hart. I mean, Bret Hart, to me, is the Daniel Day-Lewis of pro wrestling. He does the little things and just these little subtle things, and I don't know, you just get pulled into a believability with Bret Hart's matches. We all know it's entertainment, but you watch a Bret Hart match and you can question that. It's just little subtle things. He doesn't overdo anything, it's just little subtleties, nuances that he does that I could watch Bret Hart matches all day. Another guy and this is a name from the past, but Nick Bockwinkel. Man, I love me some Nick Bockwinkel. I can go down a Nick Bockwinkel wormhole and like 5 hours late I'll hear, 'where are you?' It's like, 'I'm sorry, I was watching Bockwinkel in All Japan from 1984 when he was like 52 years old and out-wrestling everyone.' Eddie Guerrero and Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 20. Or Angle and Shawn from WrestleMania 21. Angle was in a pocket there where everything he was doing was just so damn good. Those are ones that jump to the top of my head."
This podcast appearance came about after Edge and Steve Dangle cut promos on each other, with both men vying for the crown of biggest Maple Leafs fan.
Edge won the 2021 Royal Rumble after entering the match from the #1 spot, becoming the first person to do so since Chris Benoit in 2004. He has yet to announce which title he will challenge for at WrestleMania.
