Eric Bischoff Reacts To Recent Paul Heyman News, Says He Sometimes Gets More Credit Than He Deserves

Eric Bischoff had plenty on his mind when he found out Bruce Prichard would be taking over both Raw and SmackDown and that Paul Heyman was no longer the Executive Director of Raw.

On June 11, WWE announced it was streamlining its creative writing process and uniting the writing teams for both Raw and SmackDown into one group, which Prichard would lead. Back in the summer of 2019, Heyman and Bischoff were named the Executive Director for Raw and SmackDown, respectively. Bischoff only worked for WWE in that capacity for a few months with Heyman sticking to that role until now.

Bischoff appeared live recently on "After 83 Weeks with Christy Olson," just as WWE announced the creative shakeup. Bischoff also gave his initial reaction to the news, wondering if Prichard is happy to get the new role.

?My first reaction is I?m going to send Bruce Prichard a text that says congratulations, with a question mark," Bischoff said. "Bruce is probably one of my best friends to this day, and obviously I fully support Bruce. Bruce is an architect, more than a creative mind. But Bruce being a good architect will know how to take advantage of the resources within his grasp, and will do a great job.?

Bischoff also spoke about Heyman on how he is perceived by fans nowadays, saying that Heyman isn't perfect even though he says some people think he can do no wrong. Bischoff did compliment Heyman for his ability to connect to an audience and for his creativity.

?Paul Heyman has connected to the audience in a way that kind of transcends some of the normal things that a lot of other people have to deal with. He?s an icon to many, many people. In the eyes of many wrestling fans Paul can do no wrong. And that?s not true, Paul can do wrong, just like we all can. Paul?s just a human being. He?s a very creative talented human being, but he still a human being that has flaws. but Paul is on such a pedestal that I think people tend to give him a little more credit than they should for some things," Bischoff said.
