Eric Bischoff Reflects On Bouncing Between Appearances On AEW And WWE TV

Eric Bischoff discusses how he appeared on both WWE and AEW TV in a short period of time.

Following the downfall of WCW, Bischoff spent several years with WWE before he left the company in 2007. He then worked for TNA until his departure in 2014. He then shifted his focus to other projects and he made a few appearances for WWE over the next few years. Bischoff later made his AEW debut in 2020 on the August 5 episode of AEW Dynamite, and he was brought back for multiple appearances over the next several months. In 2021, he also appeared on the December 27 episode of WWE RAW. His last appearance for AEW came on the May 28 episode of AEW Dynamite that year, where he hosted a party for the Inner Circle.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Bischoff discussed how he was able to appear on TV for both companies. He noted that his relationship with AEW isn't as good as it used to be, and he knew he wouldn't get invited back after he made some heated comments about Tony Khan. Bischoff also stated that he called Bruce Prichard the first time AEW reached out to him to make sure Vince McMahon was okay with it.

“That one [the AEW relationship] is not as good anymore, but that was my choice. I knew when I said what I was going to say that it will be the last time I get invited there. I was fine with that. I don’t worry about it, it is what it is. But when I was bouncing back between WWE and AEW, first time I got a call from AEW, I called Bruce Prichard. I said that I just want to let you know out of courtesy and respect for our friendship, I am still tight with Bruce. Please let Vince know, if he has got a question about this or an issue, please give me a shout. If not, I am going to go ahead. I got the word back to go and have a ball, it’s just communication and common courtesy," Bischoff said.
