Evil Uno And Stu Grayson Felt Brodie Lee Would Be Too Burned Out On Factions To Be 'The Exalted One'

Evil Uno and Stu Grayson say they weren't sure if they wanted to present Brodie Lee with the idea of being the head of The Dark Order.

When Brodie Lee joined The Dark Order in March of 2020, the entire dynamic of the group changed with the former WWE Intercontinental Champion at the helm.

At the time, The Dark Order was struggling to get their characters across on TV, and with the addition of Brodie Lee, things began to take off for the group.

Speaking on the latest episode of AEW Unrestricted, Uno and Grayson, the founders of the group, revealed that they had been friends with Brody stretching back to their days in CHIKARA and we're excited to see him debut even though they were not able to be there due to travel restrictions with the emerging pandemic.

Both men admit that they were hesitant about asking Lee to join the group because with his history in WWE as a member of the Wyatt Family, they assumed he would want a fresh start and a singles run when starting anew in AEW. Luckily for them, Brodie Lee was all in.

“With The Exalted One, we're about to do the best work of our lives with the guy that was our best friend for so long. When Brodie was coming over, at first, we weren't even sure if we should propose to him to be The Exalted One because he had been in a team the whole time, he's probably going to want to have a singles run. He was like, ‘No. I’m fucking in guys, let's do this!”

Brodie Lee would go on to have success in AEW, squashing Cody Rhodes in quick fashion to capture the AEW TNT Championship on a special Saturday night Dynamite in August 2020.

Tragically, Brodie passed away in December of 2020. Keeping it all in the family, Brodie Lee Jr, Brodie’s oldest son has been acting as the temporary head of the group in his father's honor.

Brodie Lee’s wife, Amanda Huber, reflected on his debut on the anniversary of the Dynamite where both he and Matt Hardy debuted. You can read her comments at this link.
