This past week was the NBA Draft, but Fightful.com was on a New Japan Pro Wrestling conference call as the first picks were made.
In the spirit, we decided to capitalize on the moment. We've spoken to IWGP United States Champion "Switchblade" Jay White before for several projects (see his Making A Finsiher episode now at FightfulSelect.com), but we've certainly never spoken to him while a draft was going on.
We decided to ask White -- a member of New Japan stable CHAOS -- who he would draft to the group if he were given the opportunity.
"I might go with (Kota) Ibushi....let's go Zack Sabre Jr. in. Zack is a little more level headed, where Ibushi is a little more emotionally motivated. I think that could have quite an impact on his matches and things like that," said White.
Ibushi is a member of "Golden Elite," while Sabre is with SuzukiGun.
As far as trading away? White said Gedo, although claimed to have "no idea what I was talking about" when I said he was likely to get heat with the booker. "Gedo can go out. He doesn't do anything, anyway," Jay White said.
I guess kayfabe is still alive.
