Luke Hawx Recalls PJ Hawx's Viral Clip, Explains Why They Didn't Get To Capitalize On The Moment

Luke Hawx recalls his son's viral clip.

In early 2020, Luke Hawx's son, PJ Hawx, went viral on social media for jumping off a mall balcony for a spot during a WildKat wrestling show. Over the years, the clip has amassed hundreds of millions of views on social media and has arguably led to more promotions running shows inside of shopping malls.

While chatting with Fightful during WrestleCade weekend, Hawk recalled the clip and said that it was a good opportunity for his son.

"Yes, it was on Ridiculousness. I was just talking about somebody [about it] earlier and initially the clip alone had over 100,000,000 views, which was crazy. I'm talking about between like Sports Center and Barstool and all that stuff. Then we've obviously licensed the clip out to a few different people like Ridiculousness. So it was a good opportunity for him. I think it did amazing things, but the problem was we didn't get to really capitalize on the moment because three weeks after it happened, COVID hit and shut the world down."

Hawx went on to say that they had interviews set up with ESPN as soon as the clip went viral.

"Yeah. But like initially everything just blew up. Like as soon as that clip went viral, we had set up interviews on ESPN, this, that. I just didn't really realize what being viral did for you."

Elsewhere in the interview, Hawx talked about playing Steve Austin on 'Young Rock'. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
