Speaking with Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, Myron Reed was asked to name some competitors who have surprised him, and he pointed to Jay Malachi, now known as Je'Von Evans in WWE.

"Shoot, man. Last year I wrestled Jay Malachi. I was just like, ‘What the hell?’ I’m wrestling somebody that’s like, ‘I’m like looking in a mirror right now.’ But the thing is, I’m 27, this kid’s 19. So I’m like, ‘Holy shit,’ you know what I mean? He’s just as good as me. He’s 19 years old. That’s definitely one of the guys. But most of the people that I work with now that are really, really good, I’ve worked with before. So I knew what it was going into it. But definitely Jay Malachi last year was one of the guys I was like, ‘What in the world?’ For sure," Reed said.

Reed faced Malachi at DPW No Pressure on May 21, 2023. Malachi signed with WWE and later made his televised in-ring debut as Je'Von Evans on NXT on April 9, and he defeated SCRYPTS. He defeated Oro Mensah on the May 14 episode of NXT.

During the interview, Myron Reed also discussed the boom in independent wrestling. Check out his comments here.
