Speaking to Jeremy Lambert & Joel Pearl on In The Weeds, Matthews reflected on her AEW experience.

"The experience was great. It came up just how I think everyone's AEW experience has come up. Got an email from Shawn Dean, who is their extras coordinator. Didn't know I was doing that until the day of. It wasn't like I was prepped on that. I got there, and they were like, "I'm pretty sure you're wrestling Jade.' 'Oh, okay, cool, that works.' Then I saw Taya backstage and I was like, 'Maybe not, maybe I'm doing something else,' because I assumed she was the surprise. How it worked out was cool. I thought it was a clever way to debut her, to have a red herring with someone else, and then she's the actual Canadian surprise. It wasn't like I knew months in advance or anything like that. I found out the day of. That was pretty cool," she said. "Once it was figured out and confirmed what I was doing, I was looped in. I kind of put two and two together when I saw her backstage. 'Hmmm, who is going to be the big Canadian surprise, Me or Taya?'"

When asked if she got any feedback on the bout, Matthews said, "Not really because it was quite short and the focus was on the post-show stuff. Everyone was super friendly, and it was a good time. It was really nice to catch up with old friends like Ruby (Soho), Toni (Storm), Saraya, all the girls I've wrestled in the past or been in locker rooms with in the past. That was awesome. It was a really positive, fun experience overall. I got way too comfortable too quickly, like I always do in those situations. I was joking around immediately, hanging out with my friends and stuff. It was a great experience overall. It was super friendly backstage. I really enjoyed it."

Matthews has become one of the top names on the Canadian independent scene while also traveling to DEFY and DPW in the United States.
