ROH And GCW Had Talent Exchange Meeting Before ROH Changed Business Plan

Ring Of Honor has been making headlines for not so great reasons, releasing all of their wrestlers and announcing they're taking the first quarter of 2022 off. However, they still brought in some new talent to the tapings.

As reported last week, GCW stars Effy and AJ Gray were both at last week's set of ROH tapings. Fightful has learned that they were contacted shortly before the announcement that the company would be going on a break. ROH sources also indicated neither were put under a contract, and many within the company had no idea of the changes in motion at the time they were brought in.

Since then, we got more information regarding ROH bringing in GCW names in Effy and AJ Gray. Fightful has learned there was a meeting between Ring of Honor and GCW before Fight Club, where the two entities spoke about exchanging talent. This is what led to the Briscoes appearing on the show. As a part of the deal, Effy and AJ Gray appeared at the most recent set of Ring of Honor tapings. We're told that the talks didn't get much further than that, but that other names -- specifically Jay Lethal -- were brought up in the conversations as being possibilities in the exchange. However, we're told that "talks didn't make it that far." Lethal later signed with AEW.
