Finn Balor Doesn't Think It Took Him Long To Get A Universal Title Rematch

This Sunday, Finn Balor gets another chance to reclaim the title he never lost.

Balor became the first-ever Universal Champion at SummerSlam 2016 when he defeated Seth Rollins. During the bout, Balor suffered a labrum tear after taking a powerbomb into the barricade. As a result of the injury, Balor was forced to vacant the Universal Title the next night on Raw. Balor was sidelined for nine months, finally returning the night after WrestleMania 33.

It took Balor over a year to get a rematch for the Universal Title. On the August 20, 2018 episode of Raw, Balor lost a one-on-one bout against Roman Reigns. Five months later, Balor will get another shot at the belt when he meets Brock Lesnar this Sunday at the Royal Rumble.

?People talk about it took a long time,? Balor told the New York Post. ?It didn?t really take that long, you know. When I got injured, I had been on the main roster for three weeks. Then I?m out for nine months straight. So people think that, ?Hey, this guy?s an established guy that?s been working for, you know, 18 years [overall],? but really when I came back, my first week coming back from injury, that was my fourth week on the job [on WWE?s main roster].?

Fan hoping to see the return of The Demon Finn Balor will likely be disappointed as Balor has consistently stated that he will face Lesnar as a man, not a Demon.
