Fightful is sad to report that former WCW wrestler Johnny Meadows (real name John Condrone) has passed away following a battle with COVID.
The news was first posted on Meadows' Facebook page.
The Daily Times reports that Meadows tested positive for COVID-19 in September and had been on a ventilator support system since September 28.
Meadows began wrestling in 1981 and worked for Southeastern Championship Wrestling and SMW. He is best known for his work in WCW as an enhancement talent. He was part of many teams in wrestling including The Paradise City Rockers (with Joey Cazana), The Dream Team (with Don Lucas), The Crusiers (with Terry Bronson). He was also part of The Stingers (NWA/WCW henchmen for Ric Flair) and played the characters The Red Rocker and The Italian Stallion.
Along with being a wrestler, Meadows was a Dove and Grammy-nominated ASCAP songwriter. He was part of groups such as Tranquility Express and The Roane State Boys, both of which toured.
