Former WWE Writer Recalls Pitch For Ivar To Have A 'Vikings Only' Website

Ivar almost had a Vikings Only page at one point in his WWE carer.

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic turned the wrestling world upside down. Companies were forced to hold shows without live fans in attendance, so everyone had to get creative in their efforts to entertain the viewers at home. In WWE, part of this approach centered around more cinematic content. For a number of weeks, the Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) feuded with the Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar). They competed in a number of ways outside of the ring; they clashed in a decathlon, they played golf, and they battled it out on the basketball court. As part of this storyline, Ivar gradually became a ladies man, as he was often complimented for his looks.

During an appearance on the Public Enemies Podcast, former WWE writer Chris Dunn, who was working for the company at the time, described his experience writing these segments. He recalled how one of the pitches that was in the script was for Ivar to have a "Vikings Only" website, which later became "Vikings Mingle". Unfortunately, it always got cut due to the constant changes caused by the pandemic.

“I was doing all the off-sites with the Profits and the Viking Raiders. I became really close with those guys. That’s also too, trying to take an idea that’s not great and turn it into something. The original concepts for that [were] not great. But it worked out really well. When we kind of accidentally made Ivar a ladies man character, we wanted to have him talk and eventually open a website that would be ‘Vikings Only’, like Farmers Only. I think we changed it because of OnlyFans, like to [prevent] people getting confused, to ‘Vikings Mingle’. We literally had it in the script for seven to eight weeks, and because of how crazy the pandemic stuff was, things kept on changing on the fly all the time," Dunn said.

These days, the Viking Raiders aren't competing in decathlons anymore. Instead, they have established themselves as a force to be reckoned with on WWE SmackDown. Meanwhile, the Street Profits to compete on Raw, and both teams are aiming to win another set of tag team titles. Erik and Ivar recently lost to Drew McIntyre and Sheamus in the SmackDown Tag Team Contenders Tournament.

In the same interview, Dunn recalled how Charlotte Flair was originally going to win the 2021 Women's Royal Rumble. Check out his comments here.
