Freddie Prinze Jr. On Logan Paul's Match At WWE Crown Jewel: I Get Why They Did It, I Wasn't A Fan

Former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. comments on Logan Paul's match at WWE Crown Jewel.

Paul, a popular YouTuber who later entered the world of professional boxing, appeared on WWE TV multiple times on the road to WrestleMania 37 in 2021. He later returned to WWE and teamed up with The Miz to defeat Rey and Dominik Mysterio in his first match at WWE WrestleMania 38. Paul subsequently signed with WWE and feuded with The Miz ahead of SummerSlam 2022. There, he defeated the former WWE Champion in his first singles match.

After Paul teased a match with Roman Reigns on his "ImPAULsive" podcast, WWE announced that the two would clash in a high-profile bout at WWE Crown Jewel. There, Reigns defeated Paul to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, but the social media megastar was praised for his performance.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Prinze Jr. shared his thoughts on Paul's involvement with WWE. He noted that he understood why WWE brought Paul in and out him in a prominent spot, but he's not a big fan of it. Prinze Jr. admitted that Paul can wrestle, but he didn't like the way Paul took a video of himself when he hit a frog splash during his match against Reigns. Looking back on this spot, the former WWE writer brought up the old-school wrestling mentality and questioned Paul's seriousness as a competitor.

"Look, I get why they're doing it, I wasn't a big fan of it. I will say this. He did his thing, like the dude can wrestle. He's done I think three matches now, and I finally watched the Crown Jewel match. I was so proud of the fact that I didn't watch it because I hate Crown Jewel. It's just the goofiest. It's a tricky thing. I get why they did it, right. I get why they brought Mr. T to WrestleMania. But I'm not a fan of it, like I would rather see wrestlers wrestle. I didn't like that he videoed himself doing a Frog Splash. How serious are you, this is the old-school mentality, how serious are you about winning the WWE Championship if you're going to hold a phone and video yourself doing a Frog Splash? It should be a singular [focus]. Again, it's an old-school mentality, and I'm not saying it's right. I'm just saying it's mine. How serious are you about winning, if you don't have a singular focus on winning. [Chris mentions Hulk Hogan flexing]. It's not, the flex was to power him up. You know, like, show you how into it he is. Whereas this is like, 'I'm gonna bring everyone into my social media page and get even more followers while I do this,'" Prinze Jr said.

Prinze Jr. also praised MJF and stated that he has the most brilliant mind in wrestling. Check out his comments here.
