Goldberg Announced As First WWE Hall Of Fame 2018 Inductee

Three-time World Champion Bill Goldberg will enter the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2018.

WWE announced the news Monday morning.

Goldberg made his impression felt in WCW following a run in the NFL. He'd go on to have one of the most impressive winning streaks in pro wrestling history, reaching 173-0 -- a mark that would stand until Asuka passed it last year. He'd also become WCW World and United States Champion during that time.

His two combined WWE runs only lasted about a year and a half, but made his presence felt there as well. Goldberg won the World Heavyweight Championship in 2003, and defeated the likes of The Rock, Chris Jericho, Ric Flair, Randy Orton, Triple H, Brock Lesnar and Kane.

In 2016, Goldberg returned to the WWE and beat Brock Lesnar in short order before going on to become WWE Universal Champion at 50 years old. He'd take on Lesnar again in a losing effort to wrap up the run.

?Goldberg?s unique athleticism, persona and intensity captured the imagination of sports entertainment fans around the world throughout his illustrious career,? said Triple H/Paul Levesque, WWE Executive Vice President, Talent, Live Events & Creative. ?We are honored to have Goldberg take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame.?

Goldberg himself soon after the announcement commented on being inducted:

The WWE Hall of Fame ceremony takes place Friday, April 6 during WrestleMania 34 week in New Orleans. Tickets go on sale this Friday.
