Goldberg: I Wanted To Rip Triple H’s Face Off When I Got To WWE

Goldberg had issues with Triple H upon his arrival in WWE.

Goldberg's first stint in WWE was quite the roller coaster for fans. He would arrive on the scene on WWE Raw after WrestleMania 19, defeat The Rock at WWE Backlash 2003 and Chris Jericho at WWE Bad Blood 2003 before entering the feud with Triple H over the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Bill Goldberg now says that his heat with Triple H didn't just exist in front of the cameras. During a conversation with Tim Green on the Nothing Left Unsaid podcast, Goldberg explains why he had heat with Triple H early on and even says they had a confrontation before his signing with WWE.

"The fact that I didn’t get along with Paul Levesque, which is Vince’s son-in-law had everything to do when I got there. A lot of that between Hunter and myself was real. We had an interaction when I was in WCW leading the charge, New York had a press event. You know all the behind the scenes. The Kliq with Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall, are his buddies. I hurt myself, and I know people who are friends that weren’t with me were talking to him when he was working in WWE. He made a comment while I was at home, and I remember it like it was yesterday. He said I was tanking it or faking it or something, and that I wasn’t there for the demise of WCW or how could I. From then on, I wanted to rip his face off. We had a confrontation prior to me signing with WWE, and ironically we were represented by the same agent. It made the situation quite uncomfortable once I signed with WWE."

Goldberg would eventually return to WWE in 2016 and enjoy a successful run that included multiple World Championship victories and an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017.

Goldberg recently noted that he took umbrage with Asuka having an undefeated streak that surpassed his lauded undefeated streak in WCW. Read his comments here.
