Griff Garrison Says He Wants To Take The TNT Title From Cody, Talks Teaming With Brian Pillman Jr.

Griff Garrison is quickly rising the ranks in both singles and tag team competition on AEW Dark. Most recently picking up a victory in singles competition over Ariel Dominguez on the Friday, November 6 episode of the YouTube series.

Frequently, he is seen in a tag team with Brian Pillman Jr. Because of their looks, there have been many comparisons drawn to the Hollywood Blonds tag team which featured Brian Pillman Sr. and Steve Austin as a very successful tag team in the early 90s in WCW.

Speaking on The DropKick Podcast, Garrison revealed that while they may not go with the Hollywood Blonds name, he and Brian are currently working on their presentation and shopping around name and ring gear ideas.

“We're actually in the process of coming up with gear, coming up with a name. We have two or three ideas, but I won't give it away right now on here. Yeah, but Hollywood Blonds, that was, you know, that was his dad's thing. So we're not really going to go Hollywood Blonds. We might keep the blonde persona or whatever and rock with that but we're still coming up with it. But a funny story like we were sitting ringside for Dynamite and he just came and sat by me and then the camera, the camera was going and going and going and then it got to us and then we got the red light and he was standing beside me and he started playing with his hair and playing with my hair and doing it and I’m just like, 'yeah, I'm getting TV time.'

“So after that, like, I watch the match, I get on my phone, check Twitter and it's just spinning, blowing up! But yeah, we're coming up with names. We got three that were still deciding on, but it should be relatively soon.”

Garrison also expressed interest in challenging Cody Rhodes for the TNT Championship, saying that he looks up to Cody and that there's a possibility of this match going to happen sooner than we think.

“Also I don't want to give too much away, but I will say that the TNT title is a pretty belt and it definitely has caught my eye. So who knows, we might be seeing Griff versus Cody sooner than you guys think.”

He continued, “Cody, look, man, I'm looking right in the camera. I've looked up to you for so long to be able to get in the ring with you and take that TNT title from you would be so sweet, man. Let's make it happen.”

Currently, Cody Rhodes has his focus on his next challenge which will be defending against Darby Allin at AEW Full Gear Fightful will have live play-by-play coverage of the event on Saturday, November 7th.
