Ilja Dragunov has become one of the fastest rising stars in the brief history of NXT UK, and he says he doesn’t regret a single moment yet in his time with WWE.
Speaking with talkSPORT, Dragunov would discuss his decision to sign with the WWE and its European-based territory, saying that he has gained a new perspective as a performer due to his time with Shawn Michaels and Triple H and would also state that he is currently in an environment where people understand him and what he is trying to do with professional wrestling, a factor that was very important to him when signing with WWE.
“I get the feeling people understand me and that’s very important to me, it’s why I love my work here so much,” Dragunov began. “They understand what I’m doing without really telling them a lot. And in WWE, I’ve seen absolute professionals on a whole new level that I’ve never seen before, I don’t regret a single day that I’m here.”
Triple H, the founder of NXT and its United Kingdom branch, has always remained constant in his praise of Ilja during NXT media calls. Triple H has also stated in media calls that his best friend, WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels, has really taken the reins with NXT UK. Dragunov would remark that he is living a dream by getting to work so closely with the founding members of D-Generation X.
He commented, “Yeah, what can I say?! Of course, it’s learning from the best. It’s just stuff you can’t imagine when you’re getting into it [professional wrestling]. It’s a completely new horizon for me and I know things I never thought I’d know and I see them from a different perspective. I’ve grown as a performer every single day. This is the most exciting time in my life.”
