Indi Hartwell Retains, Kiana James Walks Away From Brooks Jensen | NXT Fight Size

Here's your Fight Size update following WWE NXT on April 25, 2023.

- In the main event, Indi Hartwell defended the NXT Women’s Championship against Roxanne Perez and Tiffany Stratton. The three women battled it out, and the course of the match changed when Stratton dove onto her opponents at ringside. Hartwell came down awkwardly and seemingly hurt her ankle, so the medical team came out and checked on her. Hartwell was taken to the back, but she eventually limped back down the ramp and re-joined the match. Hartwell ultimately clinched the win and retained her title.

- Oba Femi made his NXT debut and defeated Oro Mensah.

- Kiana James and Brooks Jensen clashed with Fallon Henley and Josh Briggs. Jensen nearly had the win, but Briggs kept fighting. James gave Jensen her purse and told him to hit Briggs with it. Briggs evaded it, and James went tumbling to the floor. The miscommunication distracted Jensen, and Briggs pinned him with a lariat After the match, James told Jensen she never loved him. Bridges put a hand on Jensen’s shoulder, and the two friends hugged.

- Carmelo Hayes defended the NXT Championship against Grayson Waller. Early on in the bout, the challenger attacked Trick Williams with a chair at ringside while the referee wasn’t looking. Williams was then helped to the back. Waller targeted Hayes’ leg and grounded him. The champion rallied, but Waller caught him with a Stunner. Waller then hit a diving elbow drop through the broadcast table. Hayes persevered and hit the diving leg drop for the win.

After the bell, Hayes called out Bron Breakker and challenged him to a match at NXT Battleground. The former champion blindsided Hayes and attacked him. Breaker then spread Hayes through part of the stage at ringside. Hayes was checked on by the medical team, and he left the arena on a stretcher.

- Tony 'Angelo and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo defeated Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson) in a Trunk Match. They drove off after the bell and later claimed that the former NXT Tag Team Champions were "sleeping with the fishes."

- Cora Jade clashed with Lyra Valkyria. At the end of a hard-fought match, Jade scored the win with a DDT.

- In an interview, Charlie Dempsey stated that people remember who wins the war, not the first battle. Drew Gulak noted that, despite his loss to NXT North American Champion Wes Lee, their match exposed Lee’s weaknesses. Gulak vowed to beat Lee.

- Backstage, Tyler Bate offered to help NXT North American Champion Wes Lee, who noted that he was fine. Bate volunteered to be in Lee’s corner, and he took the former NXT UK star up on the offer.

- Joe Gacy approached Joe Coffey backstage. Ava showed up and stated that The Dyad (Jagger Reid and Rip Fowler) wanted a shot at the NXT Tag Team Championship. Gacy challenged him to a match where the title bout would be on the line. Coffey accepted, with the stipulation being that The Dyad would never get another shot at Gallus (Mark Coffey and Wolfgang) if he emerged victorious.

- Sol Ruca got attacked backstage.

- In an interview, Dragon Lee set his sights on Noam Dar and the Heritage Cup. SCRYPTS then sent a message to Axiom and teased that everyone will see which one of them believes in himself more next week.

- Duke Hudson gave Andre Chase a pep talk ahead of his match with Bron Breakker and revealed that he sent the rest of the Chase U students home for the night. Andre Chase took on Bron Breakker and brought the fight to the former champion early on. Breaker eventually overpowered Chase and made him tap out to what appeared to be the Steiner Recliner.

- Backstage, Dijak attacked Ilja Dragunov. He crushed Dragunov’s abdomen with a garage door.

- Gigi Dolin abruptly joined the commentary team and vowed to cave Jacy Jayne’s face in on the May 2 episode.

- In a NXT Exclusive, Josh Briggs and Fallon Henley noted that they wanted Brooks Jensen to get back to normal.

- Thea Hail commented on her absence and stated that she had a lot of homework.

- Andre Chase teased a new beginning following his loss.

- Joe Gacy wrote that he'll have a little bit of the past with him when he faces Joe Coffey.

- Dijak tweet praised Indi Hartwell's toughness.

- Grayson Waller demanded respect, both for himself and Indi Hartwell.

- Tony D'Angelo stated that nobody saw anything, and there wasn't any evidence of his actions.
