After seven months, The Viking Raiders reunited on the April 12 episode of WWE Raw.
Ivar suffered an injury on the September 7, 2020 episode of WWE Raw when he performed a dive to the outside onto a pile of men. He returned to action last Monday, teaming with Erik once again to pick up the victory over Shelton Benjamin & Cedric Alexader.
In a new video on WWE's social media pages, Ivar discussed his road to recovery.
"I ended up breaking my neck when I dove out of the ring. With the neck, and my injury specifically, because it's such a traumatic blow to my spinal cord it was hard to get any kind of clearance of idea from the doctor as to when would be the time. It was a range, depending on how I heal. Once you have the fusion surgery in your neck, you have to wait for it to fuse and heal. It was rough and mentally it was rough. As soon as I got the chance to go to the Performance Center and rehab, things got easier mentally. I was able to help with training classes, help the young guys, and in helping them learn, I was learning. Mentally, that helped because I feel like I evolved. I fought really hard to get cleared enough that I could get in the ring early with no physicality, just to work on cardio. That helped accelerate my healing process," he said.
Erik noted that Ivar was texting him two weeks after surgery, coming up with new moves. Both men said they were told before by doctors that their careers would be over -- Erik suffered an arm injury in a motorcycle accident that he thought would end his life in 2014 -- and they've both proved doctors wrong.
Erik made a handful of appearances on television following Ivar's injury but mostly remained at home to be with his pregnant wife Sarah Logan. Logan delivered their son in February 2021.
