The long-time vet is hanging it up.
Canadian wrestling's own former three-time WWF Tag Team Champion Jacques Rougeau will be lacing his wrestling boots up one last time on August 18th. Rougeau last competed in 2011 when he teamed up with his oldest son JJ. Jacques will be making one last in-ring appearance and it will be with his three sons Cedric, Emile, and Jean-Jacques.
The recently turned-58 year old Rougeau is making his return at 'IGA Stadium' tomorrow as a part of a wrestling show that he is promoting. The man formerly known as "The Mountie" spoke with the 'Deloraine Times And Stars' to promote his in-ring return and had the following to say about his family's history in the sport of wrestling and what he says will be his last match.
"Tomorrow night is my last show, with my three sons," Rougeau said in an interview Friday, sometimes fighting back tears. "I think it's the end ? it's been 75 years, but we did good, the Rougeaus did really good."
The Rougeau family has been a part of the business since the 1940's and Jacques' three sons do not have interest in pursuing careers in wrestling which is why he stated that "The Rougeau's did really good" at the conclusion of the quote above. Jacques Rougeau began his career in wrestling in the late 1970's when he competed for Stampede Wrestling. Rougeau then transitioned over to working shows in the United States and as the 1990's neared closer, he inked a deal with the World Wrestling Federation. Jacques and his brother Raymond worked together in the WWF and were known as the "Rougeau Brothers" but after four years as a team, Raymond retired from pro wrestling and Jacques went on to become an WWF Intercontinental Champion under the name "The Mountie". Jacques Rougeau is also known for his time as a member of "The Quebecers" alongside PCO as the two men held the WWF Tag Team Championships on three separate occasions. Jacques is tying the knot on his professional wrestling career tomorrow as the former WWF and WCW talent is closing the book with his three sons.
PCO on the other hand is still rolling strong. The 50-year old Carl Ouellet is making the rounds on the independent wrestling scene and he will be in action tonight at Joey Janela's 'Lost In New York' show.
