Abyss reflects on receiving praise from the WWE Superstars he works with today as one of the top producers.
Abyss (Chris Park) had a legendary wrestling career, during which he was fortunate enough to cross paths with Mick Foley, Rob Van Dam, Sabu, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Kevin Nash, Sting, and many more during his time in TNA Wrestling. Now, he is retired from in-ring competition and focused on being the best producer he can be.
During a recent interview with Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, the TNA Hall of Famer was asked about receiving praise from the likes of Cody Rhodes for his work as a producer. Abyss says the praise from today's WWE Superstars is humbling. He also praised the strength of the roster and mentioned that being able to contribute to the wrestling industry beyond his days as a performer is a bucket list achievement.
"It touches my heart. It’s an incredible honor and incredibly humbling," he said. "To work with talents like Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre, AJ Styles. The whole crew, men and women, just brilliant and passionate. They love it. To be able to continue to my career outside of the ring, it’s a bucket list thing. It’s monumental to me, and I’m extremely honored. Every day, there is a different adventure and challenge.
"No two days are the same. I love game planning," he continued. "I’ve carried that part of me into wrestling. Game planning and preparation. That, as a producer, is your number one job. Game plan, work with the talent, help them craft the matches to match the story that creative wants to tell. It’s a dream job for me. To be able to work around the minds that I get to work around, like Triple H, Ed Koskey, Michael Hayes, Bruce Prichard, Brian James, and other producers like Adam Pearce, Jamie Noble, TJ Wilson, everybody there. It’s a cohesive unit. I joke sometimes about us being the SEAL Team 6 of producers. We watch each other’s backs, and we’re going in the same direction. It’s humbling and an honor to be part of that team."
