Jade Cargill recalls a conversation she had with Shaquille O’Neal before she made her pro wrestling debut with AEW.

In March of 2021, Jade Cargill would make her professional wrestling debut when she teamed with Shaquille O’Neal to take on Cody and Brandi Rhodes, kicking off a winning streak that would last until Kris Statlander dethroned her for the TBS Championship.

While speaking to Sidewalks Entertainment in a new interview, Jade spoke of a conversation she had with the basketball player just before the match.

“When I was teamed up with Shaquille O’Neal against Cody Rhodes, I remember that because I had a talk with Shaquille O’Neal before we went out. I asked him if he was nervous or anything, and one of the things he said was, ‘I’m Shaquille O’Neal. I’m a superstar. This is what I do,’ and that lit a fire under me because this wasn’t his industry. This is something that he’s just doing to do. This is something that he probably just wanted to check off, and when he said that, I was like, ‘you know what? There’s nothing to be afraid of. There’s nothing to be afraid of at all. You’re absolutely right,’ and from then on, I kind of just had no regrets and went out there and said, ‘these people are going to get what they get. I work hard and I’m going to show them exactly who I am.'”

Elsewhere in another recent interview, Jade spoke about having her WrestleMania 42 entrance all planned out. You can read more about that here.
