On SmackDown this past Tuesday, Matt & Jeff Hardy relinquished the SmackDown Tag Team Titles due to Jeff's knee injury. After dropping the titles, the duo was attacked by Lars Sullivan, who is the man responsible, in storyline, for taking out the knee of Jeff.

In a backstage interview following SmackDown, Hardy provided more details on his injury and a timeline for his recovery.

"I'm going to be out for 6 to 9 months. I'm gonna have my whole right knee repaired, everything in there that's bad. Hopefully, the first four months go extremely well. It's a bummer, but I needed a new knee. There's a lot of wear and tear on it."
