Jim Cornette Describes WrestleMania 35 As "45 Minutes Of Sheer Excitement In A Seven-Hour Package"

Jim Cornette spoke on behalf of the NWA to promote the Crockett Cup.

Near-40 year veteran of the professional wrestling business Jim Cornette was on the call for last night's NWA Crockett Cup show at the 'Cabarrus Arena' in Concord, North Carolina. Cornette shared the commentary booth with Joe Galli and Ring Of Honor lead commentator Ian Riccaboni. The final images of the Crockett Cup show saw Nick Aldis holding the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title above his head and he and Marty Scurll shaking hands as Scurll admitted that Aldis was the better man on that night.

Before the event started, Jim Cornette was interviewed by Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated and Cornette ran down the history of the National Wrestling Alliance. Cornette was asked what will new fans who are tuning in for the first time find interesting about the NWA and Cornette stated there will be excitement and a mix of styles and then went on to speak about WWE's marquee event of the year, WrestleMania and compared that to the NWA product.

"For one thing, and I?m not knocking the WWE guys?because some of them have come through training facilities for which I?ve been responsible for?but there is a WWE style of match. If you are only a WWE fan, and you then watch the Briscoes?with their smash-mouth offense, or one of the younger tag teams with the modern athletic style, or the Rock ?N? Roll Express, who are going to bring some passion and emotion as the most popular team in the history of Charlotte, North Carolina?you?re going to see some excitement. I watched WrestleMania. It was 45 minutes of sheer excitement in a seven-hour package. The NWA is going to give you more bang for your buck a little quicker at the Crockett Cup." Cornette explained.
