Jim Ross Confirms His WWE Departure At The End Of March; Doesn't Believe He'll Be Unemployed Long

Jim Ross confirms what is already well-known.

On the latest episode of The Ross Report, Jim Ross confirmed he will be leaving WWE at the end of March when his contract expires.

"My WWE contract, after 26 years, will expire on March 29. After talking with Vince McMahon, we mutually agreed that I need to move on," said Ross. "I still want to play the game and stay busy. I still think I can do play-by-play even though others, who may surround Vince, think I can't. I will not be returning to WWE."

It has been known for months that Ross' contract with WWE expired at the end of March and was likely that the two sides would not renew the deal. Ross left AXS TV at the end of 2018 following his contract expiring. On the podcast, Ross was very thankful and positive towards McMahon and his time in WWE, saying "The smartest thing I ever did was come to work for Vince McMahon in 1993."

He ended the segment by saying, "I do plan on being busy and productive. I don't think I'll be out of work long."

Ross' name has been linked to AEW since the initial report in October 2018 stated Ross, Chris Jericho and agent Barry Bloom where the ones starting their own wrestling promotion. A report in January said Ross would be heavily involved with the company both as a commentator and in a backstage role.

If Ross were to be involved with AEW, nothing could be made official until the end of the month.
