Jim Ross Says There's Not A Chance Women Main Event WrestleMania Without Ronda Rousey On The Roster

Jim Ross gives his take on the potential main event of WrestleMania.

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross has spoken about the main event of this year's WrestleMania in the past and stated that the men do not have enough steam behind a feud for them to close the "Show Of Shows" this year. A match that wrestling fans have been talking about headlining Mania for months is the match between Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey which is official for the 35th anniversary of WrestleMania.

IPW Defiance Results (4/21): Multiple Title Matches

Former 8-time WWE Women's Champion Charlotte Flair has been lurking in the shadows of Becky and Ronda's feud and when Jim Ross joined Busted Open Radio with David LaGreca and Bully Ray, he shared that he would not have a problem with Charlotte being added to Ronda and Becky's WrestleMania match. Ross then proceeded to say that there are two people WWE can count on to sell pay-per-views in a big way and those two people are Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar and added that if Ronda was not on the roster, there's not a chance women would be headlining WrestleMania.

"You got three women that are very over, very talented. They all bring something different to the table. They’re all big time players. This is not a acapella angle. This is an ensemble cast angle. Everybody needs the other to make this thing work so, I believe it helps everybody. I would rather see a singles match close WrestleMania as opposed to a multiple person match, but if they have a three-way that includes Charlotte, I got no problem with that either, because I know it’ll be structured and orchestrated -- it’ll be one hell of a match, but this is the old school… the traditional main event, I would love to see Rousey and Becky fight, but if Charlotte’s added, I understand it." Ross said. "I get it and it’s not going to hurt the match in my estimation so… being honest about it, we all know who the catalyst in this whole thing is right? Ronda Rousey. Ronda Rousey’s presence, her image, what she means to the mass appeal audience is unsurpassed on the roster with the exception of maybe Lesnar. The two of the most over people that you can count on to sell pay-per-views in a big way is a hot angle involving Lesnar and/or hot angle involving Rousey. So I think Rousey is there to help these other girls get over [and] get established because we know that Rousey’s not gonna be around forever, and I don’t have a problem with that." Ross continued, "I don’t get mad at her because she wants to have a child, raise a family. I think that’s being very, very greedy of us. So, I just think that there’s a little animosity because of the MMA thing, and, ‘Is she gonna be like Brock? Is she going to work a part-time schedule?’ Well she’s proven thus far this first year she’s been in WWE, she works all the time. She works a big schedule, and I don’t know. I don’t really understand that quite frankly. I’m happy she’s there. If Ronda Rousey is not on the roster, and you can quote me on this damn statement: If Ronda Rousey’s not on the roster, there’s not a chance in hell a female headlines WrestleMania and closes the show."

The former two-time SmackDown Live Women's Champion Becky Lynch responded to Jim Ross' comments and Ronda Rousey with an Instagram post which reads that it will not matter what Ronda has done in the past because her [Becky] work in the present will make people care once she gets to the big stage.
