Jinder Mahal: "If It's Up To Me, I Finish Drew McIntyre In The Punjabi Prison At SummerSlam"

Jinder Mahal sees his feud with Drew McIntyre headed in a very specific direction.

After a prolonged injury absence, Jinder Mahal returned to WWE TV this spring and entered into a feud with Drew McIntyre, complaining about the number of title opportunities his former 3MB member has been receiving. Mahal would also claim that he laid the blueprint for McIntyre to succeed and is off-put by the fact that the Scottish Warrior is heralded by the fans and company while he is treated as less-than.

At Money in the Bank 2021, Mahal, along with Shanky and Veer, cost Drew McIntyre his opportunity to capture the coveted briefcase, something they gloated about on Raw the following night.

Speaking with El Brunch de WWE, Mahal was asked about the Punjabi Prison match and said that even though he hopes to limit the number of times he competes in the structure, he wouldn't mind getting McIntyre one-on-one inside the cell.

"It's a very vicious, brutal match," Mahal stated. "The Punjabi Prison [laughs], hopefully, I don't have to do it too many times in my career because going into the Punjabi Prison, you know you're not going to be the same person when you leave. That match takes everything out of you. Great Khali was the creator of the match and then when I was in the Punjabi Prison, Great Khali surprised everyone and made his return. You know, I wouldn't mind having Drew in the Punjabi Prison. Nowhere for him to run, he can't go get steel chairs, and he can't play mind games and destroy my motorcycle. It'll be me and him locked in a cage and I'll show Drew that I'm the better WWE Superstar, I'm the better WWE Champion, and I'm going to become WWE Champion again."

As for whether or not he sees himself and Drew actually facing off inside the Punjabi Prison, Jinder believes that's the direction they appear to be heading and can't think of a better place for it to happen than SummerSlam.

"The way it's headed, I think it's headed that way. Drew, obviously -- he assaulted my lawyer, my poor lawyer had nothing to do with anything. Gave him the Claymore Kick for no reason. So, if it's up to me, I finish Drew in the Punjabi Prison at SummerSlam. I can't think of a better place," Mahal said.

There have been three Punjabi Prison matches in WWE history, with Mahal competing in the last one at Battleground 2017 against Randy Orton. On that night, he successfully retained the WWE Championship.

SummerSlam is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
