Jinder Mahal returned to television last Monday on Raw, dispatching of Akira Tozawa in short order.
The former WWE Champion had been sidelined since June 2019 with a knee injury.
In a new behind the scenes video, WWE cameras followed Mahal on his in-ring return.
"I figured I would be proactive and I started emailing the right people who I needed to contact and let them know I'm cleared, I'm ready to comeback anytime. A couple emails back and forth and 'Hey, you're coming back.' I was really excited. It's awesome to be back and being in the locker room," he said.
Mahal noted the camaraderie in the locker room, which he missed during his time away.
After defeating Tozawa, Mahal said, "I was a little nervous about how I would perform with no fans. A lot of what I do is based on reaction. It felt good. I missed it when I was gone."
