John Cena Shoots Down Idea Of Possible Heel Turn

For long, many fans have clamored for the wholesome John Cena character to undergo a change. According to Cena himself, the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

As he takes another break from WWE action, Cena was interviewed by Digital Spy to talk about his new film, Ferdinand. When the idea of a heel turn was discussed, Cena shot down the idea in short order.

"So many times in WWE, the audience tells me ? at the top of their lungs ? that they want me to change. But over the years I've learned that, if I change, they'll just rag on me about something else. I'm never gonna please them and, at the same time, I would be turning my back on those that I care about. So it couldn't have been a better situation for me to be involved with this movie."

Cena hasn't appeared as a "heel" on screen in nearly 15 years, since his "Thuganomics" days. Since then, he's been atop the WWE mountain, although he's been taking many more breaks recently. He last appeared at WWE Survivor Series, wrestling for the Smackdown Live squad that came up short.

Cena almost turned heel in 2012, but Vince McMahon got cold feet because Cena had signed a merchandising deal with a retail chain.
