Jon Moxley Planned To Jump The Cage At Bellator Event To Confront Josh Barnett

Jon Moxley and Josh Barnett were going to go the extra mile to hype their Bloodsport bout set for April.

Barnett was scheduled to make his Bellator debut in December 2019 against Ronny Markes at Bellator's Salute the Troops event in Honolulu, Hawaii. Moxley and his wife Renee Paquette were in Honolulu on vacation and the two parties decided to concoct a plan to add more hype to their upcoming Bloodsport bout.

According to Moxley, he was going to jump the cage and confront Barnett, assuming Barnett was victorious in the bout.

"We were going to go to Honolulu, for a vacation, and it just so happened that Josh was fighting in Bellator. We were going to have dinner with Josh the night before and everything was fine. At this point, I'm scheduled to wrestle Josh at Bloodsport in April. This is December. This is an advantageous opportunity to get some press behind this thing. Josh is like, 'After the match, I'll do a promo. You jump in the cage, we do our business and promote Bloodsport. We'll make sure everyone is aware and you don't get arrested.' I was assuming (he would win). The details weren't clear, but I wasn't going to be a wuss. If I said I was going to follow through, I would follow through, even if I got arrested. I was set to jump in the cage at Bellator and start talking shit. Security or cops be damned. I was just hoping the whole Bellator locker room didn't empty and beat the fuck out of me," Moxley said on Oral Sessions.

Unfortunately, the idea never came to fruition as Barnett came down with severe sickness and pulled out of the fight on the day of the event.

Things got worse for their Bloodsport plans as the April fight between the two was canceled due to COVID 19. It marked the second time a scheduled Bloodsport fight had to be canceled between the two. Moxley came down with a staph infection in 2019, forcing them to cancel their scheduled bout in September.
