KAIRI Confirms She Is Currently A Free Agent, Says She Wants To Face Top Stars From Both AEW And WWE

KAIRI says she is a free agent.

The former Kairi Sane previously had a prominent run with WWE; she won the NXT Women's Championship, the 2017 Mae Young Classic, and the WWE Women's Tag Twam Championship during her time with the company. She left the company and subsequently returned to STARDOM, where she made a name for herself prior to her arrival in WWE.

KAIRI then became the inaugural IWGP Women's Champion by defeating Mayu Iwatani at NJPW x STARDOM Historic X-Over. She defended the title against Tam Nakano at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17, and she was confronted by Mercedes Mone after the match. Mone beat KAIRI to win the title at NJPW Battle in the Valley on February 18, and KAIRI has not wrestled since.

Speaking with Steve Fall for WrestlingNewsCo, KAIRI was asked whether she is contracted to anyone right now. She answered, and her translator revealed that the former champion is a free agent, so she's interested in going wherever she can.

“She’s a free agent. She would like to go anywhere possible. She would like to go to the US if there’s a chance to go back again. She’s a free agent," KAIRI's translator said.

When asked to name potential opponents that she would like to face, KAIRI brought up Paige (Saraya), Toni Storm, and AEW Women's World Champion Jamie Hayter. She also named WWE stars Asuka, IYO SKY, Bayley, Shayna Baszler, though she noted that there as many others as well.

Giulia previously expressed her interest in facing KAIRI. Check out her comments here.

Mercedes Mone will defend the IWGP Women's Championship at NJPW Sakura Genesis. More information is available here.
