Kalisto Released By WWE

Kalisto has been released by WWE.

WWE announced they have come to terms with the release of Kalisto.

Trick Williams: NXT Title Win Is Bigger Than Me, I'm Never Going To Stop Fighting

Kalisto signed with WWE in May 2013 and made his television debut in May 2014 on NXT. He formed a team with Sin Cara as The Lucha Dragons in NXT, going on to win the NXT Tag Team Titles.

He was called up to the main roster in March 2015. He went on to become a two-time WWE United States Champion and a WWE Cruiserweight Champion.

Kalisto would form the Lucha House Party with Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado in 2018. The group was disbanded in the 2020 WWE Draft when Metalik & Dorado were drafted to WWE Raw while Kalisto went to WWE SmackDown. He was rarely used on television following the draft.

On Instagram, Kalisto’s wife released a statement saying that her husband's journey is only getting started and that there is still a lot of his story to be told.

To our beloved Lucha family,

I want to thank everyone who has reached out. I'm not going to lie and say that this isn't a hard time because it truly feels that way. I'm just speaking for myself, but those who have been supporters of my husband know his trajectory and the sacrifice it took for him to reach his dreams.

We've all been witness to the amazing X and hard work he has put into this sport of wrestling. I have to say there is no one quite like him. When you love something so greatly, you give it your all.

As this dream ends, another continues. As one door closes, another one opens. Lucha Family will continue to showcase content on YouTube. I promise you this is not the end, but only the beginning.

There's still a story to be told of a young boy who grew up with a dream. A little Mexican boy who grew up impoverished and the Heart of Chicago, but that one dream kept him alive. Fighting his way up and dodging death to get there. The story of how he becomes the greatest Luchador of all time.

The fight continues because stories like this deserve to be told.

He recently competed in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal on WrestleMania SmackDown.
