Kavita Devi opens up during an interview with her local outlet.
WWE is consistently reaching out and expanding their brand to other parts of the world such as Germany, the United Kingdom, Chile and India. The sports-entertainment company has held tryouts in those aforementioned places and the United Kingdom is the home of the NXT U.K. brand that is set to host its first TakeOver special on January 12th.
Jinder Mahal, Jeet Rama and the Singh Brothers are examples of wrestlers who represent India and the WWE. Mae Young Classic participant Kavita Devi is next in line on that list. Throughout her time in the company Devi competed in both Mae Young Classics and partook in the WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal and during a recent interview with the 'Hindustan Times', Devi stated that she feels fortunate to have been the first Indian woman to sign with WWE but there is pressure to open that door for other Indian women who want to follow suit.
"I feel fortunate that I became the first Indian woman to join WWE. But, there is also a bit of pressure because I need to pave the way for other Indian women. I want to help them in every way possible and I hope that I will be able to become a role model for all the young girls in this country." She said.
Kavita Devi fell short in this year's Mae Young Classic which was eventually won by Toni Storm who will be challenging for the NXT U.K. Women's Championship at TakeOver: Blackpool.
