KC Navarro Reacts To Mike Santana’s NXT Return, Calls It a Birthday Gift

KC Navarro comments on Mike Santana’s (Cruz Montana) recent NXT appearance.
On the July 21 edition of WWE NXT, Mike Santana returned to the brand. This time, he was appearing as an official member of the NXT roster. One of the people Santana worked with before leaving TNA was KC Navarro.
Speaking on Rewind Recap Relive, Navarro was asked about Mike Santana’s NXT debut. Navarro said he was happy because it happened on his birthday.
“Oh, I was happy cause it was on my birthday. What a birthday gift. I sent him a little voice note. I’m sure it made him laugh, you know. Mr. Born Nasty. Now NXT’s Nasty or better. I don’t know how you’d say it.”
Later, he recalled a backstage moment he had with Santana last year.
“I’ll never forget. It’s just a big moment me and him had. It was in El Paso. It was last year. It was just me and him in the locker room and he was just telling me, ‘Man, you have what it takes. I know you’re new here, but you have what it takes. I’ve been telling you that since you’re a kid, but you’re here now. You’re not on the indies anymore. This is a big deal. I’m getting to the top. I hope you get to the top, but once it’s my time to go, always pay it forward.’ So, that’s my big thing now. Mike’s gone, he’s in NXT. I’m proud of him. Now I’m in the main event now. So, he really left me that spot and now I guess my job is to lead the next new guys that come in. When I find my guy, I bring him up to the top and when it’s my time to go, just remind him to pay it forward.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Navarro talked about what he learned while working with Nic Nemeth. Fans can read his full comments here.
