Keith Lee reached a new high in NXT on Wednesday when he defeated Roderick Strong to capture the NXT North American Championship. Lee has had a meteoric rise to the top, highlighted by his WWE Survivor Series 2019 bout where he represented Team NXT and was the final man to be eliminated, losing to Roman Reigns.
Speaking on WWE After The Bell before his NXT North American Championship match, Lee was asked about his future in WWE.
"I don't know what my future is at NXT. I know that, right now, I have a great opportunity to earn my first piece of gold in WWE and that's supremely important to me. It's something that can be a defining moment in everything I've said about myself and proving it. So, my focus is there right now. But I certainly wouldn't turn down any opportunities going forward for other places in terms of Raw or SmackDown. It'll just depend on how the cookie crumbles," he said.
On WWE Backstage, CM Punk suggested Keith Lee win the Royal Rumble on Sunday. Lee responded on social media by saying, "Hmm....should I ever have the privilege of meeting Mr. Punk, I shall be certain to express my gratitude. The sentiment is most appreciated."
Lee is not currently announced for the Men's Royal Rumble. You can find a full list of participants by clicking here.
