Kofi Kingston didn't spend much time on the Independent scene before being signed to a developmental contract by WWE in September 2006. He's been a staple of WWE television since January 2008 when he made his in-ring debut on ECW.
Kingston has seen it all during his time in WWE and if wrestlers just coming into the company need advice, he's more than willing to help out.
"205 Live is the best kept secret," Kingston said on the Swerve City Podcast with Isaiah Scott, Teasy, and Big Swole. "Ya'll are so talented and every match, everything is so crisp. Back in my day, a lot of times the higher-ups would get mad if you didn't come to them and ask them for advice...like you're mad about it. For me, I don't mind if you want my advice or not. Everyone is entitled to being on their own journey or making their own mistake. That's how you learn and get better. If you go out and do what I want you to do, you're not getting better, you're a puppet. I'm always there for people to come to me and ask for my advice and experience. I'm more than happy to give it. A lot people these days have a lot more experience, whether it be the Independents or other places not to be named.
"WWE is different than anything else and a lot of times, the experience level kind of resets as you have to relearn the style or the system. It's different from person to person. Some people come in and they get the rocket. Other people come in and have to grind and find a way."
It took Kingston 11 years to reach the top of the mountain in WWE, finally achieving his goal when he defeated Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35 to win the WWE Title.
