Kris Statlander Addresses Criticism Of How She Won AEW TBS Championship

Kris Statlander returned from injury at AEW Double or Nothing to confront reigning AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill.

Cargill had just defeated Taya Valkyrie, but she wanted more competition. Enter Kris Statlander.

Statlander defeated Cargill, winning the AEW TBS Title and ending Cargill's undefeated streak at 60-0.

While many fans were happy at Statlander's return and title victory, some didn't like the way Cargill's reign and streak ended as she had just wrestled.

Speaking on the Rob Brown Show, Statlander was asked about the criticism of how she captured the AEW TBS Championship.

"I think it's a mix," she said of the response to how she won. "There was a lot of support for me, before I got injured a second time, for me to get a big moment like I did, and there was a lot of support just hoping for the best for me when I came back. I was really fortunate that, even throughout all my injuries people still supported me no matter what. I do see a lot of criticism about how it went down, but you can't change the past, it is what it is, I'm just here to do my job and be the best that I can be. That's just how it played out and how it worked out for me that day. I apologize if anyone feels a certain way about it. People can't go streaking forever."

Statlander had been sidelined since September 2022 with a torn ACL before returning.

Cargill has not been on AEW TV since losing the title. Statlander will defend the AEW TBS Championship on the August 5 episode of AEW Collision when she faces Mercedes Martinez.
