Kurt Angle Said He Took 65 Vicodin Pills Daily

Kurt Angle’s past drug abuse problems have been well documented, but in a recent interview, the former WWE Champion said that he took dozens and dozens of pills a day.

Speaking to ESPN’s Dan Le Batard on his radio show recently, Angle said that he took an astonishing 65 extra-strength Vicodin pills daily. But the Olympic gold medalist managed to overcome his addiction problems.

"I was on a lot -- there was no way I couldn't get out of it," Angle said. "The only thing I could do was eventually go to rehab and try to fix my life again. But I actually beat it on my own. I stayed in my house for about 10 days and didn't leave, and I was able to get through the withdrawal."

After leaving WWE, Angle joined TNA, but his drug problems got worse. Angle’s alcohol issues heightened to the point where it got him in trouble with the law various times.

"The thing is, everybody drank down there [in TNA]," said Angle. "So I started drinking with my meds. And then I started manipulating my meds. I would save all of them until the evening, and drink it with alcohol. And it got me in a lot of trouble -- four DUIs in five years."

Now three years clean and sober, Angle said that he has had no problems as of late and enjoying working on a lighter wrestling schedule. Angle’s last TNA match was on March 8 earlier this year.
